Bulk Image Background Removal (“the App”) is a Shopify application developed by Scout to help merchants remove product image backgrounds instantly and in bulk.
This privacy policy explains how the App accesses, uses, and handles data when installed on a merchant’s Shopify store.
1. Data Access and Usage
The App may access limited store data strictly to provide its core functionality. This may include:

Product identifiers and media references

App configuration preferences selected by the merchant
This data is used only to perform background removal, generate transparent images, and return processed assets back to the merchant’s Shopify store.
2. Image Processing
When a merchant submits images for background removal:

Images are processed only on demand.

Images are not used for training any machine learning models.

Processed images are returned directly to the merchant’s store.

Temporary processing data is discarded after completion.
The App does not permanently retain original or processed images outside of normal operational requirements.
3. Customer Data
The App does not access, collect, or store any customer personal data, including names, email addresses, shipping details, or payment information.
4. Data Storage and Retention
The App stores only minimal operational data required for usage tracking, billing, and feature delivery.
Any temporary processing data is automatically deleted after processing is completed.
5. Third-Party Services
The App may use secure third-party infrastructure services to perform image processing.
These services are contractually restricted to processing data only for the requested operation and are not permitted to store or reuse merchant data.
6. Merchant Control
Merchants may uninstall the App at any time through the Shopify Admin.
Once uninstalled, the App immediately loses access to store data.
